General Practitioner Training

This practice is a training practice.

That is to say, it has some responsibility for training the next generation of General Practitioners (GPs). Usually this takes the form of a qualified doctor who is interested in becoming a GP spending 2 six-month periods with the practice to qualify as a vocationally trained GP.

During these periods, the trainee GP (the registrar), is subject to a decreasing level of clinical supervision from one of the partners.

An important part of the teaching process is familiarising the registrars with the content and structure of the clinical notes for each patient that are maintained on the practice computer and in paper form. It is possible therefore that your records could be used as part of the overall training programme in a way that does not involve a face-to-face consultation. If you are unhappy about this aspect of our service please inform one of the receptionists and we will respect your right to opt out.

The registrars are subject to a strict duty of confidentiality as defined by the General Medical Council.
