  • Change of Practice Manager
Colin Miller, Practice Manager for the last 18 1/2 years is leaving and handing over to Helen Letts.  Helen Letts will become Practice Manager from 1st March 2011.

Colin says it has been an interesting tour of duty!  There have been many changes ranging from total computerisation, expansion of a number of premises and renovation to all premises as well as continuous change within the NHS.

Colin would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has been a patient at the practice - especially those who have been active in the patient participation group - for their support over the years and wishes everyone well for the future.

Helen joins the practice after many years of working in finance departments within the NHS.  She lives locally and is actively involved in several groups within Sedgefield.  Helen is looking forward to the challenges this position will bring and to continually improving the services offered by the practice to patients.
  •   Summary Care Record

The Department of Health has resurrected the policy of adding basic medical details to the national spine. The national spine is a centrally based computer data warehouse that will contain information relating to your personal medical details - unless you opt out. If you do not opt out the assumption will be that you are giving permission: "opting in".

You should already have received personally details about the summary care record. Initially your current medication, allergies and any sensitivities to medication will be uploaded to the national spine. Thereafter, details of referrals and hospital appointments etc will be added, but you will not be asked for further permission.

The practice will be negotiating a date within the next few weeks for this to take place.
